Do you know someone from the Class of 2025 or someone who’s graduated in the last three years and wants a valuable next step? Whether you’re a teacher, mentor, family member, or friend, we’re excited to share an incredible opportunity for young adults – the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option! And the time to apply is NOW! Apply at serve.maryland.gov! Our early application deadline was March 1, 2025, but there is still time to apply before our next deadline of April 1, 2025!
It’s common for students to graduate without a clear plan—thousands of graduates are in this position each year. Having options after high school or college is critical, and Maryland Corps/Service Year Option is a unique post-graduation path that offers both real-world experience and a chance to make a positive impact in Maryland communities.
Why Maryland Corps/Service Year Option is the perfect next step:
- Members earn $15/hour while serving full-time in positions that develop their skills and career readiness.
- Receive a $6,000 completion award at the end of the service year to help fund their future—whether that’s continuing education, launching a career, or starting a new project.

Student Service Learning Graduation Requirement
All MCPS students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school. Middle school and high school students should continue earning SSL hours towards their SSL graduation requirement by engaging in SSL opportunities during the 2024-2025 school year, including traditional in-person opportunities and select virtual/remote opportunities that follow the SSL guidelines posted on the MCPS SSL webpage (www.mcps-ssl.org).

- Senior Parent Graduation Information Night (virtual) – April 1
- Senior Day Celebration for Students – April 2
- Senior Prom (Fillmore in Silver Spring) – May 3
- Last Week of School for Seniors – May 19-23 (Academic Awards Ceremony-May 20, Obligations and Final Clearance-All Week, Senior Sunset-May 22, Graduation Rehearsal-May 23)
Cap and Gown Order info:
It’s that time of year Seniors!!! Please visit the Jostens website to order your cap and gown. If you need cap, gown, stole and tassel you will need to order the full package (Click HERE ). If you ONLY need a stole and tassel you will need to order each one separately (Click HERE for stole, Click HERE for tassel) Every graduate needs to have a cap, gown, stole and 2025 tassel.
